What is this game?


This project started as a part of the Devtober game jam, but I ended up liking it so much I decided to bring it to a fully-fledged game!

So what is it? Forever Autumn Mountain is about the wolf Shiro and his adventures on the sacred Pekoe Mountain! ...And that's the extent of the working story while it was in the game jam lol. I wanted to make a Metroidvania that was all about climbing and jumping (and also about the beautiful autumn atmosphere). Originally I was going to make some tea leaves be the collectibles, and once you collected enough you could brew them and temporarily give Shiro power boosts (an extra jump, a higher jump, more speed, more power, etc.). It was inspired by the Starbean Cafe from Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga.

That may not seem like much BUT, for the first time, people were actually interested in seeing more of this game! So from here on out, I'll make an actual story, plan out all the different areas, make the different races and enemies, and ... well a lot more! This devlog will be so that everybody else can see the progress and what I'm working on. Also, if you want to give critiques, that'd be super helpful since I'm pretty new to this!

About our little protagonist:


His design was inspired by Gintoki Sakata (from Gintama) and Amaterasu (from Okami). He's a cheerful little guy! (~ so cute too >w<) Likes - Tea, Mountain air, Autumn leaves, Exploring, Relaxation, Jokes.  Dislikes - Hard Work! (he can sure get going when he's motivated though)

...And this plan will be modified since I'm still not very experienced at making games.
